BREAKING STEREOTYPES & EMPOWERING MUSLIM WOMEN
with Fatima Sadaf Saied
The Background
Executive Director of the Muslim Women’s Organization, Fatima Sadaf Saied joins us to discuss what it means to be Muslim, myth-busting of negative stereotypes and how to get involved and empower women.
A daughter of Pakistani immigrants, she witnessed her parents build and dedicate their lives to inclusion through their involvement in educational and religious organizations. This included Islamic institutions like mosques and schools.
After graduating from UM with a degree in Psycho-biology, she started her family and dedicated her time to raising her five children. But she realized a gap existed in women’s leadership in her local Muslim community. She partnered with like-minded women and established the Muslim Women’s Organization in 2010.
